Lab in the box: Physics of liquids for young scientists

Summary:

This project is meant to present fundamental principles behind the soft matter priority program to pupils in the age around 14. Its target is to demonstrate these principles in simple and impressive experiments and to awake interest for them as well as for physics in general.
Inside the box can be found all necessary items for eleven experiments, that can be easily done by people of the intended age. Every single setup is described in a detailed manual. It explains the experiment and its background, gives precise information of how to do the experiment and suggests measurement tasks that can be taken by the participants.
There are not needed further unusual or even dangerous materials! Everything used in the experiments can usually be found in a kitchen. The experiments have been planned to work with minimal effort.

The lab in the box has been presented to the priority program community during Summer Workshop 2007. Up to now, it has been requested by some schools and has been presented during several fairs regarding advertisement for technical professions.
So far, feedback has always been positive! So please feel free to request the box for your own presentation! Further information (in German! English Version in preparation.)
